Plants vs Zombies: The Last Stand

Role: Visual/UI/Product Designer

Arcade Cabinet

Cabinet Models & Graphics

One of my first tasks at SEGA was to take over the design of these cabinets and see them to completion.

We worked with PopCap to source all the necessary visuals and get feedback and approvals to complete the task.

Whack-a-Mole Follow Up

One of the cabinets housed a first-person shooter tower-defense video game, the other – a mechanical whack-a-mole.

Making those designs was twice as rewarding knowing the workshop for the R&D department was just downstairs and you could take a peek at what was being built.

Game Dev

Gameplay and UI

Even though the lion’s share of game dev was being outsourced, I had the opportunity to ideate on bits and pieces of it.

We needed new ideas for UI and attack types and I was more than happy to contribute.

This developed into a lifelong passion for UX/UI and Game Design in general.

Mini Map

I loved working on this mini map of all the available regions.

It gave me the opportunity to study PopCap’s cartoon style and add a 3D feel to it while combining it with a bit of UI.

Freezing the Zombies

Being naturally curious landed me an unplanned, extra task of creating frozen textures for the zombies.
